H.P. Jacobs Mural in Ypsilanti

Artist, Doug Jones designed the mural. The students painted it with his direction following weeks of special art assignments and practice in Ypsilanti classrooms led by Lynne Settles. Matt Siegfried led historical presentations and a field trip, suggested by the students themselves.

The mural was completed between the dates of October 4 – November 9, 2015

It was inspiring to capture young students, passionate about history, creating something beautiful for their community. Below is a video and photo gallery recap of the unveiling with insight on the completion and history of H.P. Jacobs. Be sure to watch the complete speech of Historian, Matt Siegfried!

More photos of the process from myself and from photographer Laura Bien, will be displayed in Ypsilanti’s City Hall (1 S Huron St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197) beginning November 20.
